EchoPace User Guide

For the desktop app EchoPace (current version 2.7.7).

Platform How you get the app Windows EchoPace.exe (portable — double-click to run) macOS EchoPace-*-macos.dmg → drag EchoPace into Applications

EchoPace brings everyday design and data work into one window: drawing paths, running workflows, browsing tables, connecting to databases, sending HTTP, a local AI assistant, and clipping audio from folders. Module names stay in English; you can change the UI language in Preferences.

1. How to open

Windows

  1. Double-click EchoPace.exe. No installer and no unzip step.
  2. If Windows shows “Windows protected your PC”: click More info → Run anyway. That is common for unsigned builds; it does not mean the file is corrupt.
  3. There is no black console window. Closing the window quits the app.

You can keep the exe in any folder. Prefer a fixed location so shortcuts keep working.

macOS

  1. Open the DMG and drag EchoPace into Applications.
  2. If the first launch is blocked: System Settings → Privacy & Security → Open Anyway (ad-hoc signature; not notarized).
  3. Open it from Launchpad or Applications. It is a normal .app — no Terminal / black console window.

2. Window layout

Window
├── Window top bar EchoPace mark · module tabs (when the sidebar is hidden) · secondary toggle · Preferences
├── Modules sidebar ~200px module list on the left
├── Workspace
│ ├── Left rail Resources for the current module (left-rail tabs)
│ ├── Primary pane Canvas / table / graph / chat
│ └── Secondary pane Inspect, export, node props…; hide from the window top bar
└── Status bar Bottom of the window: license / updates and status text
  • Click a module name in the Modules sidebar to switch. When the sidebar is collapsed, the same entries appear as module tabs on the window top bar.
  • Each primary / secondary pane has its own pane top bar, pane tabs, mid area, and pane bottom bar.
  • The gear on the window top bar opens Preferences.
  • The bell / shield on the status bar opens License, Unlocked, and Unlock more.

3. First run: license

Without a license you only get GeoCanvas and OtterDrive. Other modules show as locked in the Modules sidebar.

  1. Open the license entry on the status bar.
  2. On License (or Unlock more), click Apply 5-day trial/renewal. The app reports this machine’s MAC and platform, receives App ID / App Secret, saves them encrypted, then checks with the server. The same credential can self-renew for 5 days any number of times within six months of creation.
  3. Or paste an App ID and App Secret from your administrator and save.
  4. After a successful check, Unlocked lists every module in this build: unlocked rows are clickable; locked rows stay locked.
  5. App ID / App Secret are stored encrypted on disk — never as plaintext.

Offline: the last successful check is reused, so unlocked modules stay available. If about two weeks pass without a live check, you are prompted again on launch — go online and verify, or click Apply 5-day trial/renewal again.

For a long-term license, or after the six-month self-serve window ends, open Unlock more and email support@mossboat.dev. Include your App ID in the message (you can copy it on that page; if you do not have one yet, apply for a trial first). Support needs the App ID to find your account on the server.

4. Preferences

Window top bar gear → Preferences.

Tab What it does General UI language (简体中文, 繁體中文, English, 日本語, 한국어, Deutsch, Français, Español, Português, हिन्दी). Changes apply immediately. Modules Which modules appear in the Modules sidebar. Locked modules cannot be checked. Keep at least one.

Save persists the module list; language changes on General take effect immediately.

5. GeoCanvas — paths · SVG · measure

Draw vectors, measure sizes, trace bitmaps to paths, export icons.

Left rail

  • Design: tools, artboards, pages, layers.
  • Measure: size and geometry. Select shapes to see width, height, area, and more.

Primary pane tabs

  • Board: draw on the canvas. From left-rail Tools: Select, Pen, Rectangle, Ellipse, Polygon, Star, Regular polygon, Arrow, Check, Cross, Number, Text.
  • Path: edit nodes, boolean ops, simplify, and related tools.
  • Preview: render the selection. Export… / Export SVG opens Export background: transparent, black, white, or a custom color (hue ring, hex, opacity).

Common pane top bar actions: Import SVG, Import image, Trace image, Copy image.

Secondary pane

  • Outline: layer list.
  • Selection: align, distribute, rotate-copy, and related actions.
  • Color: stroke / fill.

Canvas habits

  • Scroll to zoom, drag to pan; double-click in Preview to reset the view.
  • Drag guides from the rulers; drag a guide back onto the ruler to delete it. Dialogs do not let clicks pass through to the rulers.
  • Artboard background: pane bottom bar Background (night, black, gray, white, and other presets).
  • Designs auto-save on this machine (see §12).

6. OtterDrive — workflows · triggers · monitor

Orchestrate commands as a node graph — run once, on a schedule, or when files land in a folder.

Left rail

  • Playbooks: workflows and projects. Start from Demo plant / Nightly ingest, or create your own.
  • Monitor: Workers and Queue (pending file drops).

Primary pane

  • Graph: arrange nodes. Link from selected connects; right-click an edge to delete.
  • Runs: history of executions.
  • Monitor: node progress and output.

Secondary pane

  • Node: commands for the selected node.
  • Triggers: cron (5-field) and/or folder drop (watch directory + name rules). Dropping matching files onto the drop zone copies them into the folder and queues a run.
  • Env: project / workflow $ENV.

Run once executes the current graph. Cross-machine drops need this PC registered under Monitor → Workers with a matching Hub URL; use portable watch paths on every machine (e.g. %USERPROFILE%\Desktop\TAG on Windows, ~/Desktop/TAG on macOS / Linux).

7. SilkQuery — Excel · CSV · SQLite · JSON

Treat table files as data sources: browse, filter, build queries, export. Requires a license unlock.

Left rail

Sources: files, tables, databases. Use + to add Excel / CSV / SQLite / JSON.

Primary pane

  • Worksheet: browse data, scroll columns, resize.
  • Schema: field overview.
  • Sample: sample preview.
  • Builder: visual query building.

Secondary pane

  • Script: SQL / recipes.
  • Export: write files.
  • History: export history.

Typical flow: add a file → confirm on Worksheet → Builder or Script → Export.

8. RapidDock — connections · SQL

Connect to remote databases and view results in a worksheet. Requires a license unlock. Common SQL engines (PostgreSQL, MySQL, SQLite, SQL Server, and others — as listed in the connection dialog).

Left rail

Sources: connections, tables, databases. New connection, fill host / database / account, test, then browse tables.

Primary / secondary

Layout is close to SilkQuery: Worksheet, Schema, Sample, Builder; secondary has Script, Export, History.

Passwords live in local connection settings. Only connect to databases you are allowed to use, and do not share those config files casually.

9. MintCall — requests · collections

Send HTTP / WebSocket requests — a lightweight API client. Requires a license unlock.

Left rail

Collections: requests, folders, projects.

Primary pane tabs

Headers, Body, Auth, Query, Listen, Encrypt. Set method and URL, edit headers and body, then send.

Secondary pane

Response preview, timeline, and related views. WebSocket connections can live in the same project for send/receive.

If your admin provides a local Playground, point requests at http://127.0.0.1:8765 to practice against the sample service.

10. MossNet — Ollama · cloud models

Chat against project files, edit files, and run commands. Requires a license unlock. Local models need Ollama installed and running on this machine.

Left rail

  • Chats: projects and sessions. Create a project and set its working directory.
  • Files: project file tree.

Primary pane

  • Workspace: chat. Pick a model, stream output, cancel when needed.
  • Tools: tools the assistant can call.

Secondary pane

  • Trace: tool-call activity.
  • Docs: open docs / preview.
  • Rollback: checkpoints (not git). Revert when a turn goes wrong.

You can add skill playbooks under the project:

.moss/skills/<name>/SKILL.md

.cursor/skills/*/SKILL.md is also recognized. Matching skills are injected into the assistant prompt; tools list_skills / read_skill can load them on demand.

Sensitive actions can require ask-every-time or always-allow. Paths outside the working directory are restricted by default.

11. AmberClip — folders · waveforms · clips · compositions

Pick audio / video / images from a folder on a carousel, mark playback ranges, then compose and export in order. Requires a license unlock. Video posters, waveforms, and export need ffmpeg on this machine (next to the app, or on PATH).

Left rail

  • Sources: folders (drop or browse), file tree (counts and sizes; hover to delete).
  • Snapshot: clips (single-file ranges from the slicer), compositions (file order and ranges from the compositor).

Primary pane tabs

  • Carousel: media cards (waveforms on audio / video). Pane bottom bar: type, sort, filter. Pane top bar: select all / none / invert.
  • Slicer: mark in/out on the waveform; they appear in the Snapshot clip list.
  • Compositor: arrange file order and playback ranges; they appear in the Snapshot composition list.

Secondary pane

  • Scripts: move files matching the current carousel filter into another folder.
  • Export: write a merged WAV from the selected composition, or export each span. Needs ffmpeg.
  • History: export history; clear history from the secondary pane bottom bar.

Typical flow: add a folder → filter and pick on Carousel → Slicer and/or Compositor → Export.

12. Where data lives

The app does not write into its install folder. Settings and module data live under:

Platform Path Windows %APPDATA%\EchoPace\ (paste into Explorer’s address bar) macOS ~/Library/Application Support/EchoPace/

Typical files:

File Contents license.json Encrypted license geo_canvas_design.json GeoCanvas artboards otter_drive.json OtterDrive projects and workflows mint_call_projects.json, etc. MintCall collections rapid_dock_connections.json, etc. RapidDock connections moss_net.json MossNet sessions and projects silk_query_export_history.json, etc. SilkQuery export history amber_clip.json AmberClip folders, clips, and compositions amber_clip_export_history.json AmberClip export history amber_clip_waves/ AmberClip waveform cache

Moving to another PC: copying only the app does not move this data. Copy the whole data folder if you need it. Do not post files that contain App Secret or database passwords in public places.

13. Updates

On launch the app checks for updates in the background. When the status bar shows an update hint, open the license / updates dialog to see the current version and whether a new package is available. This guide matches 2.7.7.

  • Windows: replace with the new EchoPace.exe.
  • macOS: open the new DMG and drag into Applications again to replace.

Your data folder is kept.

14. FAQ

I only see two modules?
No license yet, or the license does not include those modules. Open License from the status bar and enter App ID / App Secret; locked rows under Unlocked mean this license does not include them.

License expired?
Prefer Apply 5-day trial/renewal for self-serve renewal. After the six-month window, email support@mossboat.dev from Unlock more and include your App ID for a long-term license.

UI not in my language?
Preferences → General → Language.

I hid the secondary pane and cannot find Inspect?
Turn the secondary pane back on from the window top bar.

GeoCanvas export has a background?
Preview → when exporting, pick background: transparent / black / white / custom.

MossNet has no models?
Start Ollama, pull a model (e.g. ollama pull … in a terminal), then refresh the model list in MossNet.

AmberClip has no waveforms, or export fails?
Install ffmpeg, or put ffmpeg / ffmpeg.exe next to the app.

Windows SmartScreen / macOS “unidentified developer”?
Windows: More info → Run anyway. macOS: Privacy & Security → Open Anyway. If company policy blocks unknown apps, ask IT to allowlist it.

I deleted an artboard or workflow by mistake?
Check Undo in the module. MossNet has checkpoint rollback. If you still cannot recover, do not blindly overwrite the whole data folder with an old backup (that replaces current data too).
